Risk disclosure.

Owning a city on a digital Earth is a real thing, with real upside and real risks. Here are the risks, plainly.

Last updated · 20 October 2026

IN SHORT
$EMT and EarthMeta NFTs are crypto-assets. Their value can go down as well as up, including to zero, and you may not be able to sell them. Governor and Presidential fees depend on trading activity. Crypto-asset purchases are generally not covered by investor protection schemes. Only spend what you can afford to lose.
01

What EarthMeta assets are

$EMT is the utility token of the EarthMeta platform. It is used to pay for mints, marketplace purchases, building generation and other platform features, to take part in staking windows and to vote in the EarthMeta DAO.

EarthMeta cities, lands, buildings and other NFTs are digital assets that give their holder the in-platform rights described on our site and in our Terms, such as the Governor title and the Governor fee attached to a city NFT.

They are not shares, bonds, deposits or units in a fund, and do not give any right to EarthMeta’s profits, assets or dividends.

02

Price and liquidity

  • The price of $EMT and of EarthMeta NFTs can rise or fall sharply, quickly and without warning, including to zero.
  • Past prices, mint prices, AI-suggested prices and leaderboard values are not a reliable indicator of future value.
  • There may be no buyer for an asset at the price you want, or at all. Marketplace and exchange liquidity can disappear.
  • The price of $EMT on third-party exchanges is set by those markets, not by EarthMeta.
03

Governor and Presidential fees

The 1% Governor fee and the 0.5% Presidential fee are platform features applied by smart contracts to marketplace transactions inside a city or country. What a Governor or President receives depends entirely on how many transactions take place, and at what price; if there is little or no trading, there is little or no fee.

The Presidential title moves automatically to the Governor with the highest total city asset value in the country, so a President can lose the title, and the fee with it, at any time.

Fee rates and rules can be changed through the governance processes described on our DAO page.

04

Staking

Staking windows open and close at EarthMeta’s discretion. Before each window opens we publish its lock periods and reward calculation. Locked tokens cannot be sold or moved until the lock ends, even if the price of $EMT falls during that time.

Rewards are paid in $EMT. Receiving more tokens does not mean you will have more value in money: the price of $EMT may fall by more than the rewards you receive.

05

Technology and security

  • Smart contracts can contain bugs or be exploited. Audits reduce this risk; they do not remove it, and they cover only the contract versions named in each report.
  • Blockchain transactions are irreversible. A payment sent to the wrong address, or approved on a phishing site, usually cannot be recovered.
  • If you lose your wallet’s private key or seed phrase, you lose access to your assets. EarthMeta cannot recover them.
  • The Ethereum network can be congested, expensive or temporarily unavailable, and its rules can change.
06

Regulation and tax

Crypto-asset laws are changing in many countries. New rules could restrict how $EMT or EarthMeta NFTs can be bought, sold, held or used where you live, or affect the platform as a whole.

EarthMeta LTD is not authorised or regulated as an investment firm, bank or payment institution. Purchases of crypto-assets are generally not covered by investor or deposit protection schemes (for example, in the UK, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme and the Financial Ombudsman Service).

You are responsible for any taxes that apply to your purchases, sales, fees and rewards. Tax rules for crypto-assets differ by country; ask a tax adviser if you are unsure.

EarthMeta assets are not offered to persons in sanctioned countries, or in any country where offering them would be unlawful.

07

Project risk

EarthMeta is a project in active development. Features described on our site or roadmap may arrive later than planned, change, or not happen. Statements about the future reflect our plans today and are not promises.

AI features (price suggestions, market signals, names and descriptions) are tools that can be wrong. They are not financial advice.

08

No advice

Nothing on earthmeta.ai, in our app, newsletter, social channels or support conversations is financial, investment, legal or tax advice. Decide for yourself, and only spend what you can afford to lose.
